2. Meeting 4th - 6th of May
Three days in the beginning of May, three successful and educational days…
The location of the 2nd meeting was again the LVG of Heidelberg. It was nice to see our partners again and to get to know another colleague from our Belgian partners. Furthermore the consortium has been extended through the presence of our subcontractors of the University of Weingarten.
Subject of the first day and matter of the first work package were the presentation and dicussion about the assessment of demand of a PLE in schools and companies. After the presentation and the following discussion, our subcontractors gave a workshop of “how to use wikis and videos in a learning arrangement”. In this context we got to know a very easy to handle and relatively cheap camera. Due to this characteristics this camera could be a tool in the next implementation phase.
This day closed with a dinner in a restaurant at the top of the “Königsstuhl” and a walk back down into the valley.
The results of the assessment of demand constitute the basis for the choice of suitable web 2.0 tools, topic of the second work package. Based on the results of the assessment of demand as well, the second day started with a demonstration of an interface which is called TikiWiki by our partner M-BITS GmbH. This interface will be our first version of PLE for schools and companies. The third work package which deals with the structure and function of a PLE is therefore closed. According to the motto learning by doing the consortium tested working with a PLE. Almost everybody learned by experiences concerning web 2.0 technology means already in our small group we achieved some important aims of our project. To fulfil the requirements of the fourth work package, we determined a methodological and pedagogical concept which constitutes the way of implementing a PLE in the schools. This learning arrangement will be the framework of the implementation. It is divided into different phases and contains information about the tasks, aims and roles of the students and teachers of every phase. We also developed questions for different evaluations which has to be done during the implementation on the part of the students and teachers. In order that the students are able to define tags and give answers to the broad topic “climate change and its consequences for trees in urban areas” the consortium structured it into different subtopics and guiding questions.
The first implementation will be realized this summer and we are all very excited about the results.
The second day closed with a dinner at a Thai restaurant. After that we had very funny bowling games which was a perfect counterbalance to our working day in the LVG.
At the third day the consortium discussed about the structure of the guide, one of the main products of our project. We talked about the way of dissemination and exploitation of our project and about financial matters.
We are all looking forward to our third meeting which will take place in autumn in the institution of our French partners, CFPF in Chateauneuf du Rhône.
Here some impressions from the meeting.

Everyone enjoys the bowling - looks quite professional doesn't it?
